Qualifications
Starting 2026, “Friends of DaKaTeo” – a community of individual supporters who work with DaKaTeo to pursue its vision and mission in various
capacities was launched. It is open to individuals with any of the following qualifications:
I.those with masteral and doctoral degrees from academic disciplines not related to Theology (e.g., law, medicine, values education, philosophy, sociology, etc.);
II.those with MA and licentiate degrees in Theology or related academic disciplines (e.g., Religious Studies, Religious Education, Empirical Theology, Pastoral Theology, Spirituality, Biblical Studies, Missiology) and non-theology related disciplines;
III.Those who are doctoral candidates in Theology and related disciplines (when the individual obtains the degree, he/she may apply as a regular member);
IV. those who collaborate with DakaTeo to fulfill its vision-mission through their special skills (e.g., IT skills, website coordinator, social media platforms. events organization and management, etc.);
V. those who can contribute or assist in the generation of funds for the organization;
VI. those engaged in long-time serious pastoral work in the grassroots related to religious education, faith-based organization, or socio-political advocacy (e.g., catechists, teachers, community leaders, organizers, etc.) and who have received substantial theological training (e.g., seminars, certificate programs, conferences,
etc.).
Benefits of being a “Friend of Dakateo”
a) A “Friend” can attend or deliver papers (subject to the screening of a research capsule or abstract) during the conferences organized or co-organized by DaKaTeo.
b) A “Friend” may avail of the members’ expertise for the mentorship of papers they wish to write or co-write and present at DaKaTeo conferences.
c) A “Friend” receives regular updates about activities, projects, and programs of DaKaTeo from the Friends of DaKaTeo Committee (FDCom) and thru emails, the FB public page of the association – “Dakateo Philippines” and the FB private group page “DaKaTeo Members and Friends”.
d) A “Friend” may interact with other “Friends” through a Facebook group chat for connectivity and community-building.
e) A “Friend” may meaningfully engage with the regular members for their personal, pastoral, or professional growth through conferences, meetings, and social media platforms of DaKaTeo.
f) A “Friend” may also have the opportunity to share their skills and competencies with the association through various committees.
Basic Responsibilities
a) to help promote the activities of the association and advance its vision and
mission;
b) to attend meetings of the “Friends,” including orientation sessions and interactive
events to build the community;
c) to participate, whenever feasible, either on-site or virtually in the conferences
and general assemblies of DaKaTeo;
d) to pay a one-time lifetime community inclusion fee. (Wait for further
notification.)
Application Process
E. Application Process to Be “Friends of DaKaTeo”
- For the year 2026, an applying “Friend” must be endorsed or recommended by a regular member. walk-in or unsolicited applications will not be processed.
- The applicant completes the Application Form, has it signed by the endorser, and submits it to the FDCom at friendsofdakateo@gmail.com no later than May 31,
- Applications sent after this date are shelved for next year’s application period.
- The FDCom will study the application, and if there are no questions, the applicant is recommended to the Board of Trustees, which makes the approval or disapproval decision.
- The FDCom will write a letter of acceptance addressed to the successful nominees.
